Thanks for your comment Theresa. Certainly, I think it would be great for advisors and accountants to have proper, registered versions of the software installed for the sake of their clients, but I think the management of the differing versions needed for different clients would rapidly become a nightmare?

What Reckon needs to do is to increase the transparency between versions and make it a lot more seamless for data to flow back and forth between end user and advisor.

On a side note - we give our own accountant a direct login to our Xero system so she can log in and look at our data anytime, in real time. No import/export needed at all...

It has been my experience that many accountants do not use, or even have their own Quickbooks license. Considering the volume of small business owners who use Quickbooks I would think it would be a wise decision to do so, as well as have a local QB advisor to assist them.

It's like being recruited to move your account to a new small bank...my first question would be "do you offer a Quickbooks (not Quicken) download?" If not, sorry.

I've been involved in taxes for longer then I care to admit, both on the personal side (all my working life!!) and from a legal standpoint since passing the bar and pursuing tax law. I've provided a lot of advice and righted a lot of wrongs, and I must say that what you've posted makes perfect sense. Please keep up the good work - the more people know the better they'll be equipped to deal with the tax man, and that's what it's all about.
